Back in the Saddle

After a weekend of gorging ourselves on the sights, sounds, and gastronomic delights of Blackberry Farm, we are back to Chucktown to rehash and recap.

It goes without saying (but let’s say it anyway) that my next few nights’ dreams will be filled with these things:

Anne Siems' art

Visions of Anne Siems’ art

Roasted Calcots

0 Chef Joseph Lenn’s plans for a rustic Spanish barbecue and newspaper-wrapped roasted Calçots

The Farmhouse

0 the soft blanket of snow on the most charming farmhouse I’ve ever seen

George

0 the juxtaposition of antique pewter collections, orange wingbacks with nailhead trim and wood veneer sides, crusty split rail fences, woolly lambs a-grazing, featherlight flaxen slipcovers, perfectly-seared duck on custom Bernardaud chargers, oh- and George the llama

Singing Brook cheese

0 the simple tastes of Blackberry Farm’s Singing Brook cheese and Semolina bread from our impossibly gourmet box lunches (thanks, Ashley!)

I can’t even begin to describe the running list of design tidbits churning through my head, but here’s a sneak peek of the inspiration behind the wedding’s eventual design:

Camp’s Cameo

Baby Campbell, our latest addition to the Blue Moon roster, was baptized on August 16, 2009 at Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church. Brunch followed at the Old Village Post House and Marni Rothschild Durlach shot the entire affair. We just wanted to share a sneak peek of our little fete!

Side note: Marni was a total trooper- she traipsed around the Old Village with her precious 9 month pregnant belly and just this week celebrated her firstborn: Marcus Russell Durlach V came into the world on 9.21.09! Congratulations, Marni + Marcus!

A few tidbits from the boy’s big day:

The Wonder Years- Revisited

We are head over heels for the Super 8 mm work of one of the Southeast’s premier photography teams, A Bryan Photo, good friends of ours and folks who we heart big time.

Remember the grainy element and whirring clickety-clack of those cameras? Here’s a modern recipe to replace the Velveeta videographer’s role: mix one parts A Bryan Photo, one parts Super 8 mm, a pinch of kitschy music and the dearest couple ever, et voila:

While we may have to keep their images under wraps for now, at least go enjoy their video!
